A smile was brought to my face when I came across these wonderful photos of baby Mila that her mother takes during her daytime naps. While on maternity leave, Mila’s mother has created this series of images inspired by her could be daydreams. Mila has amazing adventures, from surfer girl to astronaut. Take a visit to Mila’s Daydreams blog to see where she goes next!

My Favorite App
Everyone knows how much I adore the apps on the iphone. But I must admit I don’t usually go for apps that you have to pay for, and stick with the free versions available. I did recently splurge though for the Jamie Oliver 20-minute meals app and it’s become my favorite. I tip my hat to Zolmo Limited who created this app, not only do I love the cool design, it’s all the little touches they added to make it so enjoyable to use. I enjoy cooking but can’t say I’m a great chef, this app has step by step instructions along with photos and audio tips that make it just about impossible to screw up. Of course there are great videos, which you download so that they’re always handy on your phone, essential when you’re without a wifi connection. And my last favorite feature is the list maker which takes your chosen recipe and creates a shopping list which you can edit and add to, it even organizes your list by aisle! I can’t say enough good things. For the busy parent who wants to cook a healthy easy meal, check it out.
Imagination Playground
Coming this weekend to NYC and throughout the summer at various locations, imagination playground makes use of oversize foam materials that children can integrate with sand and water for creative free play. Check it out…

Baby Stamps
These life-size baby hand and foot stamps are such a beautiful keepsake idea. The ordering process looks a little complicated since it comes from Japan, and it’s definitely not inexpensive, but I love the way they’ve executed this idea.
Operation Design
Teresa, our in-house Senior Designer, sent me the link to this awesome collection of custom designed Eames chairs which will be auctioned off to benefit Operation Design. This organization pairs architects and designers with public schools (K-12) to design motivating spaces and promote the belief that great design creates conducive environments in which to learn, work and thrive. This auction features NYC street artists who customized Eames molded plywood chairs. You can view them online here or in the windows of Barneys NYC through June 1st. If you’re in the market for some great art for a great cause, check it out.
Kindergarten of My Dreams
How much fun does this school look? I love the design thought and details put into this kindergarten in Tel Aviv, Israel (spotted on Cool Hunter). If only it existed here…
Rockabye Baby
The hardest part of being a parent for me is the lack of a good night’s sleep. Two years into it, and it’s still the persistent issue we struggle with. So since we can be awake at all hours on any given night, there is some enjoyment in listening to the Rockabye Baby series. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s lullaby versions of your favorite artists like Bob Marley, Coldplay and U2. Check it out if you’re looking for some new night time tunes for your baby.
Colorful Seating
What a fun concept idea for seating by Camilla Hounsell Halvorsen from Norway called Drops. Using inner tubes covered with ribbons of fabric, these poufs look inviting for both adults and children. Her original concept was a chair that could be adjusted in position. I love the fabric and colorways.
Backyard Playgrounds
We were lucky to find a home with a backyard playset that little Ezra could enjoy. However, after we bought our house and made a closer inspection, we realized what we had was an eyesore of a swing set and clubhouse that needed some serious refinishing and replacing of parts. I also started to worry that perhaps the wood used was seething with toxic chemicals. I’ve been on the look-out for cool modern playsets (that are hopefully reasonable in price) and provide something a little more sculptural to look at. I’ve read plenty of blog postings with one-off ideas that seems really cool and interesting, but they don’t lead me anywhere since most seem like concepts only.

I spotted the Weevos system by Landscape Structures that have an interesting design and offer functional play, though probably too commercial for a backyard setting. What are your solutions for backyard playsets?
